Very new to photography. Got a point & shoot only, but already enjoying it. One day will grow up and get a DLSR. I use GIMP to edit picture (I seldom edit them though) coz I am also still at learning stage on how to use GIMP.
My Equipment
Canon IXUS 70, point and shoot camera. Free GIMP software
Ken, thank you for your kind words on my photo collection. Great to know you. You are "Kiwi"? I love NZ so much and your photos will remind me of one of the most beautiful country on earth.

glad to hear you'll dropby to check out my stuff again ...yay ;~D
Dont get discourage. I had the same feeling and we are not the only one! What I did, to get familiar with photo editing i read tutorial and books on photoshop, just to know the basic concepts - layers, channels color etc. Then I use youtube tuorials very frequent and other web sgimp tutorial. after many hours and sleepless weekend s - i guess thats what hobbies are all about - "time wasters" - but gives some joy to itself. even until now i've got somuch to learn. i'm only sratching the skin of it. njoy playing with your new toy! thats one thing good about us boys never too old to play with toys :) even at retirement! Cheers,

Ken,
Man, what a challenge! I think it's going to take me at least a year to just get a marginal knowledge of GIMP. I am determined to learn it. I really want to 'tweek' some of my photos and see whats at the next 'level'.

Ken,
I went to Youtube and watched the tutorials. I will download the gimp, thanks to you, and begin experimenting tomorrow. I've a friend here who is deeply into digital manipulation ( he recently sold a collection of his work to the 'Trump Collection') and his work has put the 'bug' into me.
I've never been, but friends who have rave about your country. We plan to be retired in a year or so and New Zealand is on our 'short list' to visit and photograph.
Sorry about the long commute to ski. We sort of take it for granted, in the winter.
I had acomment about my exposure for the Ghost Tree shot needing more aperature or exposure to 'whiten the snow but I was in a storm up there and that was the 'natural' color. I was fascinated by the grey tones.

Ken,
I love the flower shots and the seagull at the fountain composition. I'm just beginning to have an interest in digital manipulation. Can you inform me more about GIMP?
