Is there a way to prevent people from uploading +300 random photos?

One of the things I enjoy about this site is being able to view other photographer's work and comment on the photos that grabbed my attention. It is a valuable learning experience for me. However, ... Continue

I think preserving the "aged" look of the photos is a very good idea. It gives it auhenticity. The recipient of this slide show should be very happy and grateful you're doing this. Putting a slide ... Continue

I used Pro Show Gold and like you, I loved it. A couple of years or so ago, about the time Pro Show Producer was first released, I was asked by the director of the Texas Museum of Asian Cultures to... Continue

About Me:
I became hooked on photography ever since the Kodak Instamatic came out and became a serious hobbyist after developing my first roll of film and printing the first pictures in a make-shift darkroom in my parent’s spare bathroom. Black and white photography was my passion. I then switched from film to digital photography when I bought my first digital camera: An Olympus C5050Z. I was one of the last hold-out from the old film crowd. I was fairly convinced that digital photography was just a fad, much like the Polaroid camera. Man, was I ever wrong. I occasionally miss the wet darkroom, but I do like having a “darkroom” in my home office instead of in my parent’s spare bathroom. It’s not as messy.

I enjoy nature and landscape photography, but I have been known to dabble in table top and macro photography. My current passion is photographing and exposing the subdued elegance of old and time worn things.

I have retired from gainful employment sometime ago and now devote a lot of time learning as much as this old brain can absorb about this new medium called: Digital Photography.

Wabi-Sabi and Photography

Wabi-sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in impermanence and the profoundness in nature. It describes an esthetic awareness based on an appreciation of the fleeting beauty of the physical world. As photographers, we often look for and find and appreciate beauty in things not usu… Continue

Thanks for the welcome. I will be updating my website this weekend and working on here shortly after. I have a trip to San Franciso coming up so I'm seeking advice on landscape and low light photography early on, but I have interest in all forms of photography.

Thank you for your comment, I too am jealous of your states beauty. I spent a good deal of time in north and west Texas, and some in short trips to family in the Austin area. The thing I regreted most was that I left my SLR at home and my instamatic broke, a mistake I refuse to repeat. The scenery there is breathtaking and I plan to return someday to right my mistake. I love your pictures too, and look forward to seeing more.
