WHAT WOULD YOU DO

Too tough to call - it depends on whether you want an SLR or not. The Canon has RAW file output which would be attractive but it's not exactly pocketable.

Internet cynic

I was intrigued a few weeks ago when I discovered that the traffic to my blog - tressillian.wordpress.com - had increased 10 to 20 times from the norm. Had the internet population suddenly decided that it liked looking at photos of London? I don't think so. The most recent post was entitled "London Red - Tube Sign and Big Ben" - and a little bit of investigation revealed the true reason.
