Fun with Macro

We caught these little, very colorful, grasshoppers(?) on the way to Madera Canyon. There were so many on the road it was impossible to avoid them. Continue

Fun with Macro

Nice! Wow, that's close. This is my very first macro image. I caught this bee at work on a flower in my front yard. But this was before I knew anything about shutter speed, so he's blurry. Continue

Wow! I was just reviewing my last post and realized that a month has passed? Where does the time go?…

Wow! I was just reviewing my last post and realized that a month has passed? Where does the time go? My oldest daughter celebrates her 21st birthday today (speaking of time passing by). Last November she brought our first grandson into the world. He's marvelous, adorable, and full of laughter. I haven't met him yet. She lives in North Carolina with my son-in-law. But she's coming out in late May for my youngest daughter's graduation. I'm way too young to have a grandson and two daughters out of… Continue

Stock Photo Sites

I began submitting some photos to stock photo sites this week. Like the Az Highways pic, let's keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

Time...

I've been out of work now for about two weeks. Apparently the wrong time of the year to lose your job - or hell, maybe it's just me. That hard won associate's degree isn't really doing anything for me right about now. On the upside, I finally went back through all my photos from the last three months. I've discovered a few that I think might work as stock photography submissions - let's cross our fingers. And I finally found the courage to delete all the ones that I just knew were crap. The ti… Continue

Fingers crossed

Well, after about six months with my DSLR camera, I've sent my first photo off in hopes of it being published by a magazine. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Tombstone and Bisbee

We took a short trip to Bisbee, and stopped in Tombstone today. I'm still struggling with when to use a semi-automatic mode like aperture priority. In late afternoon, in a canyon town like Bisbee, the light conditions can change so rapidly from one area to another. But I am not happy with how the camera handles semi-auto modes, and so I'm stuck in manual for awhile.

The issue for me is that it can be difficult to meter the light and the adjust the shutter speed or aperture in time to ca… Continue

Hey Tim, thank you for the comment on Molly! It was a spur of the moment capture as she is a very energetic dog. :) And I noticed you're a D40 user too; I just got mine last week and love it so far. Have any tips? :)

hello tim....i was viewing the discussion about limiting the number of pics being uploaded and had started to get real worried...every post that i read was in its support...i agree that its annoying to browse through some profiles that upload 100+ personal pics, but introduction of censorship would be the worst possible thing that could happen to this site...as it always happens censorship always paves way for rules that are even more limiting...for understanding this idea i salute you.thank you for replying to that discussion.

hi Tim,
for your information, note that, if you post some more photographs in any of the CC categories, you may copy and paste the technical acronyms ( SS, A, etc) from the' constructive criticism' main page. I think I will make them available in each category though...

hi, Tim
sorry, I finally found out by myself that clicking on the image made it the proper size. This way there is nothing wrong with that of course. Would you tell me how you do it? I mean which way you
upload it saw that it may enlarge when clicked on. thanks

hi Tim
,thank you very contribution to CC group. Your photograph is really small though. Would you be so kind as to re post it in a bigger size (1024 x 1024 pixels is fine)
thanks in advance
