totally agree Francois, in fact the old 135mm were highly regarded as very good for portraiture work, so 80mm (due to the crop factor) isn't so bad Matt.

correct! of course the 50mm could be used on a camera such as a 5D if you decided to upgrade later. to get what you're after, a 35mm on your 400D will be the same as a 50mm on a 5D (35mm lens X 1... Continue

crop factor of X1.6 would make the view the same as an 80mm would have on Full Frame.
