About Me:: I am an amateur looking to improve. Please critique honestly! Thanks!

I've been living in New York City (Queens) for too many years, many of my photos depict scenes in Brooklyn or Queens - and of course from my travels. My interests are quite varied; I like flowers, animals, buildings and scenic shots. I try to look for the unusual or unexpected.

My Equipment: Just upgraded to a Canon G9. I love it so far, but haven't figured out all the features yet. It will be my main "serious" camera, but I am still using my old Canon Powershot SD500 as the "carry with me everywhere" camera for those unexpected shots that you never have a camera handy for!

The G9 is a great camera and i nearly bought it, but choosed the S5 IS instead.It's what they call a bridge camera, and it will prepare you for the DSLR, if you aim to extend your photography skills.

It is true, all our glaciers are in retreat and much as I would like to blame what the media is calling global warming, I feel it is much more compicated than that. The tundra is drying and the ice sheet are also retreating. But we get the same amount or more than normal ice from the "cap" during winter and our rivers are not breaking up any sooner than previous years. Many areas in Alaska had a harsher than normal winter with near record snow coverage. I have not seen the reduced number of polar bears that many environmental groups report or any other species. As well, most of the native elders report that this has happen before. Most Alaskans just don't want to be so quick at relying soley on data from people that don't live here. One thing for certain, something is up.
