Married, have a daughter of 19 months and expecting a son (November). Had some cash on hand a while back and decided since I always was interested in photography, a decent camera is on top of my list. Now I am hooked. Dont get to spend as much time shooting as I would like, but trying my best. Definitely want to focus on macro. I think it is the most amazing world out there that so few people are aware of (or maybe scared of) lol. Cant wait for summer, for the bugs to come out.
My Equipment
Canon 400D,
Sigma 70mm Macro Lens,
Sigma 70-300mm 4-5.6 Macro Telephoto Lens.
Hoping to get a decent flash / Ringlight soon
Sonet; Thanks be to you' for your very kind words. Allow me to reflect for just a second. I once attended a photo workshop hosted by a photographer Jay Dusard, who counseled that the difference between a good photographer and a bad photographer is that a good one will never show his bad images. I try to practice that. I will look foward to more of your baby images, knowing that they will be in your family for many years to come. I think your doing just fine right now with your images.
A tip with getting dynamic imaging; will involve trying to separate the emotional bond you have with your subject and look on the image with a scrutinizing eye. If you can't then ask a neighbor or friend for an opinion and then brace for impact. Mimicking style also helps develope your eye and approach to a shoot. Ask "how did you do that" questions on images that you really like. These members are always anxious to reply. Most of all, have fun shooting. And shoot alot, remember, it's not film. Thanks again, your words uplifted my spirits today.
Thanks for that Sonet, really helpful. Went into a camera shop today (before reading your comment) and found the same problem with the 70-300.Loved the 180mm but to o expensive. Contemplating buting a standard 50mm to invert with an adapter... Watch this space!

I love shhoting in marco myself..The detail really comes out when doing so. I want to purchase a 180 marco lens but I'm leaning more towards 100mmto400mm 2.8 zoom. I love taking action fotos, and I just can't seem to get away from it.......
HI Sonet. Just been looking at your Macro album - absolutely stunning! May I ask, which of your lenses was used for 'Grasshopper' ? (I am using a 35mm inverted on the end of my 18-55mm stock Nikon and it's getting tedious... I want to get a decent macro lens but not sure which way to go... Help & advice appreciated!)
