About Me:: I've always been interested in photography but I disliked having to wait for the film to be developed for you to see how your work turned out.

I wouldn't be as interested in photography if it wasn't for the instant gratification I get by using digital cameras and image editing software.

Friday, July 4th I had the opportunity to practice my portrait photography with my 11 year old neice Aerial. The day before my new Canon 430EX Speedlite flash and Giotto light stand arrived from B&H so I decided to try and use off-camera flash which I've never attempted prior to this session. I setup my Canon EOS 40D with the Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS lens that came with the camera and a Canon 580EX II Speedlite flash (master) with the flash turned off and only the Canon 430EX (slave) on. Portrait Post Processing

I'm learning how to do post processing using Photoshop CS3. My portrait workflow currently consists of adjusting the black level, cleaning up skin blemishes, smoothing the skin while keeping the skin texture and finally sharpening. 98 Mile U-Turn

Life has a way of sending you in one direction then changing it's mind at the last moment and then doing a U-turn to have you do somehting completely different. I scored free tickets to the Drag-a-Paloosa drag racing event at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown Texas which is about 49 miles from our home. Yesterday my son Austin and I left the house at 3:00 PM to go to the races and I also brought my camera equipment with me to try and get some good action images of the racing. Upon exiting I-10…

I should be ashamed to tell it, but my Mavica is a 2 MP FDC200. I really like this little camera and fortunately one of my laptops is as old as the camera so they go hand in hand. I am looking for something smaller with higher resolution.

With the right lighting even an ugly hairy toe can be interesting and that is what I am working on right now, lighting and angle. I just started out, but my goal is to be able to manipulate with lighting in a way that anything can be pretty to look at : )
