I love photography, never took any official training, but would like to. In 2004 I purchased a Nikon D70 digital SLR camera and have been teaching myself with this camera. I've been sidetracked a few times between relocating states and job changes, but I'm getting focused back into one of my loves, the other is baking and cooking in general. I admire food photographers and live action photography. I've practiced with live music entertainment on a small scale and have enjoyed what I've learned so far. Any tips are greatly appreciated! I'm selling Avon on the side to earn extra money toward my future goals of photography and opening a bakery, so that's the site I'm referring to for now, will establish my own soon.
Thank you for your comment. I've taken close up shots of the hands around the guitar as well as the boot of the acoustic music player sitting on the stool. I agree with you completely, I'll try a better focus on these in the future, very good points. Thank you for your words.
Hi Lori; You have a very nice collection of images. As you explore more with your Nikon, remember to start with what you are most familiar with and work out from there. Heres an idea; with musicians, try a wide angle shot and source the camera very close to the instrument that they are playing with. Of course that means you need to get close, but a niche with photography is to do something no one else is doing. That's when you get unique and begin developing a style. Be observant of everything, including the audience. Most important, always keep it fun, the rest will just fall into place. (Pensacola! I used to live near there, in the last century. I loved it)

I have been traying to achieve DOF when taking photos of wine bottles for the past few days. The first images I called wine bottles 003, {not in focus I might add} Got lots of feedback on how to get DOF and the result was todays image. Had lots of fun playing around with my camara settings. J.C.
