How true! Summer is coming down here so I expect to spend more time with insect macrophotography.
Not only do I spend too much time on my knees around the house, I also let weeds grow to overcome the garden! One of these days I have to stop taking photos of flies on the dandelion....

LOL.. One day I spent 4 hrs walking around a park just to see what I could take pictures of. A lot of them were butterflies and Dragonflies. I want to buy a new lens but its hard since I really love my macro feature on the lens I am using now. The only feature I wish I had with it was the IS feature. Then I think I would be pretty much set for life!

I can't wait till summer I hate the winter it is cold here. The high is 33 degree's out side. When I took the ice pictures on my page (which were in macro mode) I was shaking so much I had to turn it to sports mode to get a clear shot..lol

Frank, there is something to be said for a weedy garden. More insects will visit a mixed landscape ~ more photo opps.
Sadonna, I know what you mean about the cold. I shot this Sunday morning.

Wow that is a really nice shot. What kind of plant is that.

Those are Rose hips (seed pods). I should have ID'ed them.

OH I see. I have no green thumb what so ever. I was lucky I kept the Peace Lilly from my grandmothers funeral ,and the flower pot my son gave me for mothers day alive for as long as I have. That being said they finally died both of them..lol

Continuing a great theme:

This image was taken in Madera Canyon, south of Tucson, Arizona. It was the first weekend after I purchased my camera, and I convinced my wife to take a nature hike with me. The area is just incredibly beautiful, and one of the few with running water in my area.

We caught several dragon-flies mating, naughty buggers! I was nearly laying in the creek to get this shot. Taken with an 55mm-200mm Nikon lens (it was part of the promotional purchase) with the cam set to "macro". I've reduced the size for the web.

Hi, Tim. That's a great capture. I saw it larger pic in your album.
A pair of Shadow Darners fell from a tree right in front of me last summer. They flew off just as I figured out what they were. Missed 'em.

Andy,
Not sure how to add a clickable thumbnail. I'll have to figure that one out. And, btw, (and forgive my ignorance) but what's a shadow darner?

Reply to This

Sorry, this is a Shadow Darner. A big dragonfly. Once I started shooting bugs, I had to ID them.
