Digital Flash Meter

I have been thinking about upgrading my analog flash meter to a digital meter, does anyone have one and do you find it useful when shooting in a studio situation.

I have had one for months now but haven't bothered using it at all. Haven't even looked at the manual. Guess i'll need to check it out.

Ok Guys I just added a L358 to my collection, took Fancois advise and found a deal on Ebay .
Should have it by next week.
Hope someone can show me some tricks.

Are you getting the optional radio transmitter?

Daniel
I'm glad you asked that question, it is offered as an accessory but I don't know if the radio transmitter will work with my MicroSync Digital wireless radio strobe sync system.
Do you or anyone else know if it will work.

I would think it will not work. You can e-mail the MicroSync and ask if it is compatible with the L358.

I looked at the specs and I think the pocket wizards and MicroSync use different radio frequencies, so it is very likely they are not compatible.

Ok Here's the deal, I spoke with Tamrac the makers of MicroSync, I was told that the L-358 is not compatible with the meter, but if I wanted to plug a PC cord into the meter and the receiver at the power pack it would work.
I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze, the whole reason I went with the wireless RF unit was to get rid
of the wire not to add a wire to a light meter, What do you guy's think.

Before I got the transmitter option for my L-358, I would have to set the meter to "cordless" mode. So it works this way: You press the button on the meter, then you trigger your flash via the transmitter on your camera (or have your assistant do it), the meter will detect that the flash just triggered and then give you a proper reading. It's just not as sweet as a fully integrated transmitter in the meter, but it does beat attaching a sync cord to it.

Ok Guys I just received my L358 and out of the box to the shot of my Grandson with the bubbles in the back that I just posted,
one 400 WS novatron head and one white fill card, First shot with the reading off the meter perfect.
