Just sayin' "hey" --
Been a bit out of touch recently and have missed everyone. Been working at setting up my own website for use as a portfolio and maybe sell a print now and then. I have no illusions about becoming a "great photographic artist" in the near future. That, if it ever comes close to happening, will take a lot more work and time.
But I'm a very pragmatic person and I believe there are people out there in "business-land" that may pay me a few bucks to help them with their photography needs now and again. Daughter-in-law works for an architectural firm that specializes in noise abatement and may have a little job for me. Now tell me, is this BORING or what -- pix of them setting up their equipment at some houses by the airport that the city needs to insulate for sound. But ya know what, they'll pay me, and that will be a job that I can use as a referral, so what the hey!!!!
I figure, everybody's gotta' start somewhere, and I know that for me, it's not gonna be at National Geographic. But it will help me by forcing me to work with my equipment, meet deadlines, and generally take care of the business I hope to grow into something more than the boring and mundane to a mix that includes more artistic and challenging endeavors. So wish me luck guys.
Here's a little story I'll share -- I know a lot of architects. And "all" of them leave school with the ambition of becoming the next big name designer. And I can say that, without exception, every one of them came crashing down to earth when they got out there into the real world. It takes a lot of time and work and risk to reach that higher rung of the ladder.
So, I figure for a lot of us, it's gonna take some time and work in the trenches, but the road we have to travel to get there will be worth the trek, because we'll be better prepared than most because of all the lessons we'll learn along the way.
So guys, talk to ya later. Hope everyone is doin' good. Take good care.
