Is there a way to prevent people from uploading +300 random photos?

If you feel that your photos are good, amazing, well composed, interesting or even art, then by all means upload them! This is of course a matter of personal opinion. But I must say that I find it increasingly frustrating that some members on this site, seem to just upload every single frame they've got. It effectively means that I won't comment or criticise their work. But more importantly, it will often prevent me from viewing photos from members who only post a few at a time - they're simply lost in the mix.
So my question is (and I know we've had this discussion before but this time I hope we can reach a conclusive answer) if there is a way to prevent people from uploading an enormous amount of photos to this site?
Fx by restricting it to 5 uploads per day or perhaps new members are only allowed to upload a fixed amount within the first month of membership?

I suggest they could be an icon/field which we could click anonymously sending something like ' if I were you, I would the bottom 'visible just to myself''
we have to find a way so that the administrators take into account this discussion....

If this topic gets big enough it will bring it to the attention of the admins. After that they can talk about it. In time, they will notice.

I hope you are the person who can answer my questin, Jorge. How do I delete photos on this site? I too only wish to keep a few good ones on here. Thank you.

Hi Marilyn, you can delete your photos from your profile. Go to My Profile, Go to Photos (top left, under your portrait), pick the photo you want to delete. You'll see a few options under the photo including Delete. Hope this helps.

Even though I came rather late into this discussion, I fully agree with some sort of a limit.

Either five to ten a day or something.

IMO: this is a site where people who call themselves photographer gather and discuss ideas and tricks. It's not a site for your family albums or pictures of your friends. Neither is t a site were we readily welcome people who take snap-shotty pictures and think they are great.

It is also true that those who are more interested in the artistic/professional dialogue available here will return often and change and tweak their photos, which make sense to encourage with a weekly/monthly limit.

I agree with you guys....i guess some members doesn't know what is photography is all about.... they enjoy putting all the pictures they took...even its bad cropping..bad composition... i even see one...head was cut off... and still they uploaded it...are they trying to make mss their database box or something...making an album out of mss ... i hope the administrator you look into this matter.. i don't really scan the viewing photos section....i usually look at the popular pictures....just this afternoon ive tried to scan it to my amazement and dismay...some members upload all the pictures they took in one setting....whew...that was something

have a great day mss members ....

ok i have don't read alot of the other posts so far.

To fix the problem.

Create an Artist Photos link. With a upload limit of X, but they are normal upload to the normal photos but shown in both places. and have the same page to add the detail. Have a button that says " add to the artist photo " Limit x per x hours.

so there are the family vac photos, and also i link to the good stuff.

Also have a few ppl as mods to remove photo that go against the new rules.

What's the expressed purpose of this site:
"MyShutterspace is a social network for digital photography enthusiasts. This is your place to connect with other digital photographers (both amateur and pro), share photos, videos & stories, get critiques on photos, and discuss photography techniques and gears."

There's no mention in the stated purpose regarding the (very subjective) quality of photos.

I'm no expert, and like many of you I don't particularly care to browse a multitude of mediocre photos. The network associated with this network - ning? - allows for people to create their own networks as many have already done. If you vote to begin to censor the uploading of images, who is to say whether or not a particular image you upload warrants acceptance or denial? And what about uploading a snapshot to share with friends you have on this network?

In my humble opinion it is a shame to censor anyone who uploads their photos. Who knows what person might upload a unique snapshot that inspires you, or that your comments on it might inspire them to become more dedicated to the craft. Find other ways to be more selective in your viewing, or if you must have only professional or near-professional level photos, join some other network or group.

My two cents.

good points M! loove the greek amateur word reference; that's the bottom line. also am sadened to see hoh much efforts it takes to change anything, anywhere in my own life, never mind "outthere". most of us do not that spare energy time and space left from the rat life and willingness or skills to unite in a very organized/harmonious way to see things through. looks like taking and venting helps aliviate frustration though. cheers
