How do you find your niche when taking photos? I’ve been trying to find what genre of photos I excel in, but as of late I’m not sure, any suggestions? Some people are better with landscapes; others are naturals at taking great portraits and photographing food. I looked over my cache of pictures this evening and can’t find a theme song to sing. Well maybe I’ve reached my potential, amateur photographer for life or?

When you find out Ed, you can tell me, 'cause I shoot anything that catches my eye! I think for me it would just be too hard to settle on just one subject. Although I do love flowers and lanscape best I think, there is just too much beauty in the world to pass up a great building, bug or face. So little by little I learn through trial and error and will become whatever my Maker makes of me. Love and Prayers, Debbie :D

I think the question should not be what your genre is, but what are you doing it for? Where do you want your photography to take you? Do you want to go professioanl? If not, I don't see why you have to label yourself. What is wrong with just taking pictures of what you love and what brings a smile to your face and heart. I have really only been concentrating on taking pictures for the last couple of months. I really don't have the perspective that other's would. I find that I am starting to gravitate towards B&W nature shots, ie: flowers, water, trees, etc. I also like the old grungy stuff. For what it is worth, I think you should just shoot. Who says that you have to have a niche? Maybe you are one of those that is just good at it all!

Ed some times we just have to slow down. It's time to rediscover the the world around you. Take a walk, with out your camera, and get to know the life around you again. go to the park..watch the wildlife..people...the city around it. Something will will bring a smile to your your heart. Then go back with your camera and photograph that. You will find that shot to be your best one yet! That's how I knew!
