Many times there is a questioning about when it is necessary to have a signed photo release at least for me. About everything when you photograph in the street, when they are people who literally live on the street or within other social events; It is impossible to ask each one a signed release.
The streets are public and even within the legal scope which will protect us as an artists, can not always be out of this controversy. Do you define privacy? or do you define privacy if you're in a public place?
As artists we stand always within a photographic version than that do not pass the parameters of individuals within that privacy. Or when it comes to models or commercial situations which are subject to demands, the release is essential.
In my particular case, many of my models are unpredictable, and many do not even know how to write. Or rather, they have lost the skill of sign.
Without talking about the fact that when we portray a historical place, where there are tourist sites is necessary to apply for a release to the State to sell those images?
I've never requested one and think that I won't do it.

Comment by Jose Carlo Burgos on March 19, 2013 at 5:16pm Thank you Wayne! I read it carefully, in fact I printed it to underline a few points that I consider to be essential. It also helps me to feel safe with my photographic work. Many times friends have told me: 'you go shooting people on the street without anything signed' the document clearly explains which implies a public place and far reach the legal aspects of privacy. Really thank you and believe me that will serve not only to me but to guide others in the same tune I.!
