I just uploaded a few pictures to shutterstock. I went to just look around. I didn't know I would have to immediately upload pics when I created an account!! They wanted 10 but I only uploaded 3 for the moment. I still have so much to learn and I just wanted to take a look around to see if I would be interested in it!

Comment by Rebecca Melancon on March 12, 2013 at 5:53am I guess it was just thoughts I was putting down. I ended up closing out the browser and not uploading. I really just wanted to look around for the most part. I'll have to go surf around without joining. I didn't realize I could do that! I do appriciate the info! For now I don't intend to really sell any of them as I'm still learning quite a bit.
Comment by Brad Whistler on March 12, 2013 at 4:09am Im not exactly sure what your intent is with this post. It doesnt have a question in it. But a few points about shooting stock. Stock sites are not just a place for pretty pictures. Images that are on the sites must be highly compelling, technically precise and powerful enough to carry a project for the purchaser. Things like out of focus images and soft images, color shift, less than stellar composition etc are all unacceptable in the world of stock images. A stock portfolio usually demands 100's of strong images in order to make a moderate additional income for the shooter. If you are looking to check out some stock sites it isnt mandatory to join and post images to do so. Simply surf the site for the style and look they carry to see if it fits your shooting style or to get ideas on how to improve your shots in order to succeed in stock. I have never found the time and work involved for stock to be worth the end results in my wallet. I make out much better marketing directly to an end user in my area. Good luck in your goals.
