It’s Friday and the weekend has finally come! Question: How do you get people to critique your pictures with the factory cranking them out at a stifling pace. Each morning I began to comb through the new entries admiring the fine eyes of some photographers and wondering how blind others are. Unfortunately, I spend most of my time giving praise versus doing what should be the right thing. As a supervisor we always say – we spend 80% of our time on 10% of the people (these are the bad seeds). Some days I fall in category of the 10% (those that need assistance) and believe it or not, I relish the sincere comments posted on this site. They really help me to refocus my attention to the task at hand and seek remedies. I do remember now and then that this is a public website with worldwide viewers (WOW)– just think how I look to the folks around our globe if I keep posting picture after picture without any improvement. So, it’s really everyone’s job on this site to up the standards and encourage, guide, and suggest ways for artist to improve their hobby, trade, or past time (jumping on the table is allowed).

Constructural Criticalistic comments are good I think. I am a "Novice" at everything I do with my Photographic work, from the actual Capture to Editing. I have never attended any kind of college for anything, accept for Training as a U. S. Navy Hospital Corpsman during the Vietnam War/Conflict. I think if I were to describe my kind of "Artwork" .... I just "Wing It"!:) I offer different facets of my work. Some people probably think it is "Weird", and some people enjoy something different and offer praise. I like old and I like different. I do accept comments "Yay or Nay" and I learn from those comments. I also learn from praising everyone's work.

II’m really glad this is an open forum where we each have the right to express our opinions either good or bad. As with Art we all see things differently, I only stated what I saw through my eyes which is no reflection of how you view your art. If you want all good accolades, then you may not want to show your art to others. People do have opinions and they will continue to express them.

There are many people out there that put up there pics on MSS for many different reasons,Do NOT think it is your job to tell people to crop and edit there pics or what you would have done as you did with one of my pics,if you dont have something nice to say then just go to the next pic.
ps the picture you commented on is a rare bunch of Termite mounds taken in BW with very flat light, this is a natural beauty

TGIF! I always really look at the photo ..try feeling it...I believe honest answers should always be made. I think a lot are timid about critical comments, lest they get criticized. I do agree with you tho, we should encourage ,guide, and suggest ways for one another to improve or skills.
