Photo Sharing Community - MyShutterspace

I recently added a very simple picture to my gallery:

I have received more comments on this photo than any other that I've posted. Just wondering what's the appeal. I like it for its simplicity and yet it seems to speak volumes as well. I wasn't sure if it was good enough to post and then was very pleasantly surprised that so many people found it interesting. Thank you all very much. What do you like about it?

First my friend lot of shot don't get much comments that they deserves on this site. lot of us don't having in mind what equipment was used and how experienced is photographer. But we should before consider at last that before we left any feedback on a shot.
There is another problem with Cloudscape photos. There are lot of them on this site and it's hard to get attention with them. Over saturate this photo make it "sureal", as lot of here wrongly call that kind of photos, and you will see that you will get more visits. For comments I'm not sure any more.
For comments you have to fight, and fight. Or posting them to lot of people and they will be kind too post you some. It's works like that on this site. Lot of people don't really do commenting because they like something, they commenting to get comment back.

Thanks for your feedback. I like the unknown aspect that Nathan mentioned that also ties in with Andy's comment about an image that can tell stories. Jova, I like your advice about composing and keeping it simple if possible. Lots of times I think I'm very clever but nobody gets it. It's not about boasting about how clever one is; rather it is thinking about how it will resonate with the audience. Thanks again for all your insight and helpful opinions. : )
An example is this photo of loons at sunset. it has no appeal for an audience though I thought it looked like loons flying toward a bird shaped golden cloud formation. The photo is clever only to me. I will approach my shots with a fresh eye and perspective.

I will say that it's nicely geometrically composed. And that light is even, and red color looks nice. That what I can say on first look. And as told in comment nice captured.

If you put less subjects in photos it will be easier to interact with audience. More complex conceptual photos are hard to compose, especially if we have in mind that audience have to see message at first look.

It's got an unknown appeal to it. Where is the boat going? Heading out to possible adventure or returning from a journey? It leaves one to wonder what's ahead.
