Jeff Birthday party Saturday

It's was my fiance's b-day on Wed and we are going down to Old Bridge NJ to celebrate on Saturday at a club called "The Breakfast Club". The place is an 80's and 90's retro club complete with a Delorean parked on the dance floor. I'm charging the camera up and getting ready to take a ton of photos, both @ the club and in and around the town we are staying in. Wish me luck, and I'll post any decent shots that come from this weekend here when I get back Continue

Jeff Opinion Any suggestions in taking a good photograph of crystal jewellery?

Hi everybody, I'm very much fascinated with crystals and how they reflect light. I tried taking pictures of them, but I'm not happy with the results. I think my lighting is not right. I tried experimenting different techniques, some did work and improved the outcome. (removing flash).Since I'm just a beginner, I don't really know a lot about different camera settings. (I'm trying to learn though) Usually, certain part of the photo reflect too much light than what I wanted, as a result, some othe… Continue

Alan Westbrook What An Image Sharing Website Can Do

I was added as a friend by Nemo Sandman today (Merci Nemo) and as I do, before accepting, (I still haven't got the hang of being added without being accepted !!!) I took a look at his page to see what sort of photos he was showing. I don't want to waste anyones time having me as a friend if I'm never going to look at their photos if their style is not my thing. For those I have rejected, nothing personal, just that images are of a different taste to mine. Two things were immediately apparent t… Continue

Dee Adding Friends?

I'm adding this a little apologetically. As previously stated, I'm still finding my way around here and it just seems a bit forward/presumptuous to click on "Add as a friend". The recipients may not want me as a friend! The other options (Invite More/Invite Friends) seem to be aimed at people not part of this site, so is there some middle-ground method I haven't discovered yet? And sorry to anyone who's received an invitation from me so far. It just seems really cheeky! Continue

Mara W. Terns at Cumberland Island

When we went to Cumberland Island Ga we made our way across the dunes, the sweltering marsh and through the Dungeness mansion...all to get to the beach. When we got there it was no disappointment. All the walking and traipsing across sand was worth it...The beach was everything you could ask on a hot blazing day and despite having to shoot photos in the mid-day sun I was so pleased that I came upon these birds. I put… Continue

Dee The DeeTV Studio Diary

I've decided to attempt blogging. One problem is once I've started you may not be able to shut me up! I'm still trying to find my way around this site and it's features, so please make allowances. One reason for starting this was looking at the photographs posted here by everyone else, seeing the variety of subjects, and just how vibrant and colourfull many of them are. I've only been photographing girls in a studio recently (for the last 2 months to be precise) so I've had to sift through my "b… Continue

ShadowSpirit Dralion 1--Coming Soon

Thanks to my Sister's generosity, I'll soon be the proud possessor of a laptop. The machine is about 3-4 years old, but is in very good condition (my Sister takes good care of her stuff). What I plan on doing is kinda taking the laptop and turn it into a sorta "Mobile Imagination"; I'll have very little software on it, I may not even have Word (I'll install "Open Office" instead). I will have my Driver for my Digital camera, GIMP (Photo editor), Audacity (sound editing), a browser(IE and Mozill… Continue

Francois Cleroux Bird Photography

Bird Photography Tips Birds are special creatures and thus they need to be handled in different ways than most other photography subjects. I have posted some photos that people seem to really like and many have asked me how I managed to get the photos and some have asked me for tips. Here is a list of things that I have learned mostly by trial and error. Tip #1: Wear Neutral Colors Don't wear bright colors. grimo1re Feeling discouraged....

This month I haven't taken many photos. I have many reasons (or perhaps they're excuses?). I'm busy and consequently quite tired, I had problems with my batteries & charger, I felt I was just not getting anywhere. I think that may have been the main reason. I don't want to become a professional photographer or anything, all I want is to be a better amateur. An enthusiast. Something I take pleasure in. And sometimes I take… Continue

Daniel Cossack Everyone's a Critic

MyShutterSpace is one of the best social networking sites for photographers where all levels from beginner to advanced can get together and discuss and share their love of photography. One of the main benefits that we all enjoy, no matter what level we are, is the photo critique. It is important to realize that photography is an art and its beauty is subjective. Some will like your work, some will hate it, and some will be indifferent -- and most of us just can't resist the temptation to offer s… Continue

Wow! I was just reviewing my last post and realized that a month has passed? Where does the time go? My oldest daughter celebrates her 21st birthday today (speaking of time passing by). Alan Westbrook Beginnings of Inspiration

Last night, after trolling around MSS and being thoroughly impressed with a whole lot of photos, I decided that I'd get up and go to the Torrens near the city and see what sort of images I could capture on sunrise. I run and ride on the paths that surround the area and was often taken by some of the scenes that could be captured if only I had my camera with me. I was there at about 0640 and proceeded to snap 39 shots over the course of an hour or so and it was like meditation. I can't recall th… Continue

Francois Cleroux My Favorite Artists

There are a ton of great photographers on this site. Too many great ones to pick from and so I will never pick a favorite. Art on the other hand is rather different. Not that I did not say "Best" Artists, as that could be argued in a ton of ways and then someone would stupidly ask "Well, what is art anyway?". So I posted my two "Favorite" Artists.
