Glad to hear that you are someday interested in the D300. If and when that day comes you will love such. I have had the D100, D70 and now the D300. It has a whale of a owners manual but now that I have learned the camera pretty well it has proven to myself to be the best step forward, to this point, that I have made. The biggest improvement comparing the D300 to my priors is what it turns out at high iso's and the amount of cropping that can be done and still produce a nice enlargement. Good luck.
