I love the texture/colur and lighting on the bed, but find the light coming through the door a distraction. Without that I think it could be something quite special.
I came across your White Peacock piece, and was blown away by it. It's
fantastic!
I work for a design firm in Tokyo (designing posters and ads), and I
wondered whether it would be possible for me to use your White
Peacock.
If you have any terms of use, please let me know.
(And if it's ok to use - do you have a larger data of this image you
can send me?)
No light-box for Kiku...just Rembrandt-type lighting with the exposure stopped back 2/3 of a stop. Given that the walls of my "studio" are grey, and I used a dark grey backdrop, I was able to control the light without having to touch the background in pp. It helps that my ceilings are 10ft, too.
So, if B&W is popular because it allows for greater control of dynamic range, do I have control issues? lol That IS precisely why I like mono, though: the ability to minimize distractions and more pointedly (and simply) convey a mood or vision or story. That's probably why I love your delicately-colored shots...you have done that in living color, like I'm right there witnessing it.
Thanks for the wonderful supporting comments! I re-edited Tender Green to tweak some exposure and distraction issues. Kiku looks so much better in my beloved mono, the only editing I had to do on this shot, but just for you, here's the original:
I thought you'd like Winter Wonder. I just can't believe some of the trees still have leaves! The scene was rather boring without the sc, and since it was what they were looking at anyway, I thought to play it up a bit. Turned out rather well, glad you liked it.
Thanks for the thoughtful comments. I've shot the Trailblazers spot in fall, but those just didn't turn out well; I think the simplicity of having no leaves + snow made the "frame" much more visible. I didn't think about nd for Trailblazers...always pictured using them for bright sky purposes. Maybe I'll try burning the foreground a touch to see if that helps balance it. (Or maybe I can get Nik Pro!)
