War of the Worlds pt 1

These wind generators stand quite ominously looking like they are from outer space. All in all there are about 20 of them along this ridge and I thought they looked quite alien standing alone in the middle of nowhere.

Looking 'round

Posted on June 1, 2009 at 4:35pm 0 Comments

I have very quickly decided I am addicted to looking at all the photographs on this site - they are for the most part absolutely brilliant. I can find someone with an exotic location and go to their photos and presto! immediately transported to that part of the world as seen through their eyes. I love it!! Keep up the good work guys.

Ah Ha!!

I eventually 'found' them again - a couple of shots that were linked to a trip I took to Tasmania. I just thought the person who actually had the imagination to be able to take drab buildings in the inner city precincts and do something with them was nothing short of brilliant. My own mind wanders a lot but I would not have had the capacity to dream up something like this.…

Imagination of the Artist

A couple of years back I traveled to Tasmania our southernmost state. 'Tassie' most Aussies call it it steeped in history having been a convict colony. This small island is quite eerie and one can almost hear the anguish of the prisoners who had been banished to this place for what nowadays is not considered a crime - the history of one woman showed she had been sentenced to 14 years for being an 'incorrigible rogue'. Anyway, enough of the miseries of a history lesson.

I stumbled upon this… Continue

G'day everyone. Just wanting to introduce myself. I joined the group essentially to get an idea of what others are doing with their cameras and through trial and error try and lift my own standard to that of the great work I've seen here.
As I become more familiar with how to blog etc. will add photo journals as we go along.
Keep shootin'

Hi Peter just wanted to let you know i posted a side view of the mill that you liked, it sits right behind a dam that has a drop of about 30-50 ft, thus creating the illusion of sitting in the water or floating....... btw that you for your comments

Hi Peter, thanks for your comment.. Ya, I have it shot in a simple way without further thinking while on the way to Dubai. However, at that moment I was thinking of my family member who are far apart from me where I could only meet them twice a year

re: Lady Jane & Brains & Beauty—thanks Peter!

Lady Jane was shot with a couple of continuous studio lights (hot! but it's nice to be able to see what you're getting), Brains & Beauty was just about the opposite. Shot in a restaurant with lousy lighting, but did have that strong strong daylight coming in so made it good for a glamour like shot. Lots of post on this one though ;-)
