Ex-HK police officer, photographer, audio producer, literary editor, mountaineer, ex-skydiver, lifelong Redskins fan, now in the UK. I have spent most of my adult life in Hong Kong. I have travelled extensively and done plenty.
I have been using SLRs for over twenty-five years. My first was a Pentax ME Super with a 50mm kit lens: a wonderful camera that has a great AP mode. Around that time I learned B&W D&P. I worked my way up through 35mm to a Nikon F5. Though I miss film, particularly the split-image focusing screen, I love the freedom and convenience of digital photography. I have been using a Nikon D60 for several years and have found it to be a great learning camera. I have been shooting in RAW for the last year or two, manipulating images with a variety of programmes, primarily Capture NX2, Photoshop CS2 (thank you Adobe), and Photomatix Pro. These days I am getting increasingly frustrated with the limitations of my gear - I hope this is a sign that I am improving - so am looking to upgrade when the opportunity presents itself.
I think this is a terrific community and have progressed no end since joining.

- Battered Nikon D60
- AF-S NIKKOR 16-85mm kit lens (that's like a snow globe with all the dust inside it)
- A nasty, beaten-up tripod and various milk bottle quality filters
- A cheap battery grip
- A cheap mountain bike (too easy to miss things in a car)
