Who I am

Posted on October 8, 2010 at 1:50pm 5 Comments

How do you find your niche when taking photos? I’ve been trying to find what genre of photos I excel in, but as of late I’m not sure, any suggestions? Some people are better with landscapes; others are naturals at taking great portraits and photographing food. I looked over my cache of pictures this evening and can’t find a theme song to sing. Well maybe I’ve reached my potential, amateur…

Vacation time?

Posted on October 6, 2010 at 2:32pm 10 Comments

I recently returned from vacation and noticed that I spent the majority of my time taking pictures of family and friends. In the future I plan to cut back on taking pictures and spend time enjoying the moment, unfortunately, it’s really hard to put the camera down. So I’m asking you, how can I break this addiction of taking pictures everywhere I go? Are you hooked, do you find yourself taking…

Blink of an Eye

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 11:39pm 1 Comment

They say on an average you blink 16 times a minute. Just imagine if you would have to adjust your camera lens at this rate; it would be an effort to do 1% of what the eye sees. Therefore, we must collaborate with our eyes view and agree on what to shot. In most cases you use the eye before and after to determine what has been captured is considered reasonable. Just think our own dedicated set of…

It’s Friday and the weekend has finally come! Question: How do you get people to critique your pictures with the factory cranking them out at a stifling pace. Each morning I began to comb through the new entries admiring the fine eyes of some photographers and wondering how blind others are. Unfortunately, I spend most of my time giving praise versus doing what should be the right thing. As a…

Mr. Mays, as I set here with a glass of scotch, looking at your images. I am in awe of your talent. You have an unique eye for detail and composition like no other. I make no excuse for not viewing them before. I do try to view as many as I can. You are no doubt a master, and I take my hat off to you. I work for an ad agency and that is long hours, so my time is limited. But I have to say I have enjoyed your work. Thank you for sharing your amazing images. Joe
