"Alright, so I guess an honest to goodness Spitfire would be approximately the size of a Mustang - or a little smaller then?"

Spitfire

"Sorry Earl, this one's an imposter. The key to tracing it is the registration N5410. It's actually a kit replica that's 80% the size of an actual WW2 Spitfire. The company that produced it was established in 1995 and cheekily…"

"Terry - I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath for three years and really loved the country.  I met a man who flew mosquitos during the war.  His face had been burned pretty bad from an incident over the Channel.  He said that Jerry filled…"

"Excellent article and thanks.  Question: Is this an original or modified version.  The photo of a Spitfire in the article you sent showed an airman standing next to the cockpit, but he wasn't as tall as the aircraft.  Either the…"

About Me:
Photography became a serious part of my life around 2001. I was injured at work and photography broke the boredom that follows when one is retired and has to adjust a day full of pain; and also adjusting to not participating in the fast paced world I use to live in. My father was a professional photographer for the city/county of Jacksonville/Duval County, Florida when I was 6-7 yoa. I remember his dark room, the smell of the chemicals and his photographs. I was hoping he would teach me this mysterious art he loved. However, he died when I was 7 and I never got to learn the "how to's" and his secrets. After my injury, I started shooting photos of and on and was told that the photos were good. That is when it became a passion, one that I want to master; however I feel that is a dream for me as there is so much to learn. I am 58 and I started way too late in life to get to his level, but by God I am going to try.
My Equipment
Pentax K 10D and various Kiron, Sigma and Vivitar lens.

Small and very fast. The Spitz and Hurricane won the Battle Of Britain. As a 5 year old boy I watched them in the air fighting over the channel.

I would have been more at home in a Spitz or a Hurricane. :^)

Never missed an airshow at Lakenheath & Mildenhall 1965-1980's. In the seventies I remember the F100 Super Sabre's and Phantom's. I served in The parachute regiment 74-83 and sometimes emplaned at Mildenhall. Things are pretty quite now compared to the 70's Only this week the USAF announced that flying training at Lakenheath is to be reduced. I live in Peterborough,. our local USAF base Alconbury has been closed a number of years now

Sorry, you might metered on his pants which would have caused the camera to overexpose everything else thereby losing a bit of detail. It's a good capture.

Celebrating Christmas in the hostpital is not great, I agree. I wish you all the best in any case and I hope you will be fairly quickly on your feet again.
