About Me:
I was born in sunny California but have lived in many places; New Jersey, Germany, Canada and Mississippi. Currently I am residing in Southern California.

I know the importance that photographs play in our lives. One simple photograph can say more than a hundred words could ever begin to describe. One photograph can bring you to tears filled with either joy or sorrow. They are not just objects of art but also tell a story. Photographs are ageless, even if they fade or become tattered and torn, they are still cherished from generation to generation keeping memories alive.

I've always been fascinated with photography as far back as I can remember. My father was a photography enthusiast and we traveled many places all over the globe with him as he captured life's moments as they happened. When I was old enough my father handed down his 35mm camera to me. I don't recall the brand but I do recall it had screw mounted lenses, nothing automatic and it weighed a ton . . . I was hooked!

I learned out the hard way to never leave home without your camera. January 17, 1994, I was on the freeway early morning heading to Van Nuys and was about 10 minutes from Northridge when the earthquake struck. I saw and witnessed things that no one else did; blue sparks in the sky as transformers snapped, overturned vehicles, buckled roads, spot fires, water main breaks, and citizens taking action. That moment changed me and I now never leave the house, even if I am only going to the market, without my camera. As you can see in one of my crude albums titled "Firestorm", these are not award winning pictures but do show the dangers faced by every day people traveling and getting cornered by a wild fire.

Photography to me is like a photo essay of places I have been, things I have seen all delivered with my special twist, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Photos Revisited

Digital photography exploded when it emerged on the scene. No longer did you have to anticipate whether or not your captured memories turned out okay. No longer did you have to take two, three or more shots of the same subject in hopes that at least one would turn out.  No longer did you have to wait days for your pictures to be developed, or worse yet, pay double or sometimes even triple to have them the same day. Now you could see immediately what you shot and retake if…

Who is playing at the concert in Rio?  That is going to be a great family vacation.  I am glad you can go.

October should be fine.  Have fun in Brazil, keep in touch while you are there through the daily/weekly challenge.  I would love to see your pics from Brazil.  Is this for work or a vacation?

wow, that's so cool!  I think you are the closest MMS member that I know of. I guess that explains your airplane photos; must be from the air shows.  Let me know if you ever want to get together for coffee or tea.

Wow, you were driving on the 118 when the quake hit? Facinating. I am glad you survived that one.  What a story. I, too, am sad you didn't have your camera then.  I did document what that day was like for us in Simi with the mess of the house, and damaged buildings around Simi and Northridge.

Thanks Deb!  It's a great feeling to have a image pick out of your collection that is for sure.  It really made my day. :)
