About Me:
I'm new to digital photography. I used to use film and have several SLR cameras. I have a Canon Supershot G9 digital camera which is almost a SLR without the bulk. I am learning to use all the features (I have to read the book). I also would like to learn more about editing pics. I appreciate any help from those of you who are more experienced photographers.

What Is This? (answer below)

The silent flight of owls has long fascinated ornithologists. No other birds fly with such stealth... First, the leading edge, or primary feathers, on the owls' wings are serrated like a comb. Second, the trailing feathers on the back end of the wing are tattered like the fringe of a scarf. And third, the… Continue

Far Out Photos of 2009 (my favorite is the half burst soap bubble)

http://www.sphere.com/weird-news/article/far-out-photos-of-2009/19287274

Make sure you don't have your pop-up blocker on. Which is your favorite one and why.

I love the one of the super slow motion soap bubble half burst. It shows something most people have never seen. It's fascinating how the bubble is half burst and half intact (and the way it is tearing apart).

I also love the one of the dog jumpi… Continue

Tennis Ball Tree? What are these?

We saw this tree and thought there were tennis balls in it. Upon closer inspection, it seems there is some kind of fruit growing in it. Several had fallen on the ground. The fruit is yellow and looks almost like a brain in texture (not smooth). We brought one home in a plastic bag. It has a weird odor and feels rubbery. Can anyone identify this or are they alien pods that will take over our bodies?

Hello Dasia, thank you so much for your many kind comments. Really love your new shots as well. I added 3 motocycle shots to the wheels group, but I may have done something wrong, they are showing up on pg, 19 I think, should I try and reload them? Love and Prayers, Debbie :D

Hello Dasiauve, thank for viewing my Gallery and leaving nice comments. In reply to your question about the flower technique lighting, here is the tip:
1) Shoot in RAW file if possible
2) Put white balance in your camera in "fluorecent", even you are taking during daylight, and choose an exotic flower to get such effect!

Hello Dasia, thanks once again for your wonderful comments. Really do appreciat the feedback! Love your new photos as well. We are all fine, really busy as usual. We have started back bus driving and I am still in hopes that a full time route will open up for me. So glad the weather is cooling off a bit so I will be out and about more. I hope to take my tripod and make a day of shooting around the area and try my hand a HDR. Hope you all are well also. Love and Prayers. Debbie :D
