About Me:
I'm new to digital photography. I used to use film and have several SLR cameras. I have a Canon Supershot G9 digital camera which is almost a SLR without the bulk. I am learning to use all the features (I have to read the book). I also would like to learn more about editing pics. I appreciate any help from those of you who are more experienced photographers.

Photography is not about cameras, gadgets and gismos. Photography is about photographers. A camera didn't make a great picture any more than a typewriter wrote a great novel. - Peter Adams - Sydney 1978

"The so-called rules of photographic composition are, in my opinion, invalid, irrelevant and immaterial"

What Is This? (answer below)

The silent flight of owls has long fascinated ornithologists. No other birds fly with such stealth... First, the leading edge, or primary feathers, on the owls' wings are serrated like a comb. Second, the trailing feathers on the back end of the wing are tattered like the fringe of a scarf. And third, the rest of the owls' wings and legs are covered in velvety down feathers... owls' tattered fringe feathers help to break up the sound waves that… Continue

Far Out Photos of 2009 (my favorite is the half burst soap bubble)

Make sure you don't have your pop-up blocker on. Which is your favorite one and why.

I love the one of the super slow motion soap bubble half burst. It shows something most people have never seen. It's fascinating how the bubble is half burst and half intact (and the way it is tearing apart).
