Alienbees B1600 Review

I normally shoot with two Alienbees B800 flash units. Seeing that most of my recent stuff has been indoor shots, the B800s provided plenty of juice. (320 true Ws, 800 effective Ws, 14,000 Ls)

But for our photo shoot this weekend, I knew we were going to be in much larger indoor locations than usual plus a good bit of outdoor shooting as well. So, I wanted to make sure we had plenty of even lighting to fill those large spaces.

I hopped on Ebay a few days ago and bought a single Alienbees B1600… Continue

Live Photo Shoot Countdown

Wow, time has nearly taken my head off.

This weekend is our biggest photo shoot to date, and I swear I still had another week to prepare. That's ok! Before a photo shoot I seem to go through this weird mood swing. Nice Collection of HDR Photos

I was browsing through one of my favorite online design magazines (smashingmagazine.com) and ran across a feature they published with a nice collection of HDR photos. Thought I would share it. Enjoy

Webdesign, Bloodlust and Romanian Photographers

Well, I'm certainly finding truth in that old saying "anything worth having is worth working for".

Harboring this belief becomes increasingly valuable as the 'work' that is required from you continues to pile up.

A couple of last-minute technical issues added an extra day to the final redesign of my site. All is pretty much finished; although to me you can build a new house and have everything perfectly in place and the cabinets full of food but if there is a shower curtain missi… Continue

Finally...could today be the day?

It's almost 3pm and there is an actual, honest to god chance that the new site design will be finish and loaded. One thing about being a photographer is that we tend to see everything as a finished image and filtered through a lens of composition, balance, feel and color; which can be a royal pain in the ass when it comes to web design.

I have spent three months designing layout after layout, working with four different freelancers (a story in itself) and just about driving my OCD self bat-sh#t… Continue
