I love this shot and much better on your contrast. Like on the previous commentsI made on the little girl, I would crop this off more on the left to move the subject from being directly in the center. This is much better on the softening ! BTW you h…
Great shot and she is adorable. I would make a couple of suggestions on this one, I would back off just a little on the soft focus. It is harder to do the lighter soft focus on a darker subject because it tends to look more underexposed. This is whe…
Amanda- This is a a great shot but I have agree with Andrew on a couple of his comments. The wispy hair and the strap across her shoulder. However, since this wasn't meant as a planned posed formal portrait what I see is that you still captured a gr…
I am a former full time professional photographer who sold his studio years ago.
After being inundated with requests for me to return to my past as a working photographer and my wife losing her job, I decided to dust off the old shingle and hang it back up. I started taking casual environmental portraits of kids, teens and families and what a difference the digital world has given us to work with. We started Chuck Williams Photography and I taught my wife how to shoot and we shoot as a team. My 21 year old son has now joined the business full time as a third photographer on the team and my 18 year old daughter just did her first solo HS Senior . We are on facebook with over 3,000 fans, and we blog when time allows. Visit our website at www.chuckwilliams-photography.com and look around.
My Equipment
I started out using a Nikon F ?? years ago, so that shows you I have been around photography for awhile. I progressed to Large Format for Portrait Studio,Wedding's and Commercial work. I still have a Nikon 8008 with a 35-70 that I bought as my first auto focus film camera when my son was born (ouch-the 21 year old). I entered the serious digital world cautiously with a Nikon D-50 and I moved up to the D-80. We now have D-90's, D-80's,and have just added a D300s. I feel that less is better. As the kids today say " DIGITAL RULES" !!
Thanks, Chuck! I will definitely check those out. I like Picasa, it's so easy to use, but I wish it had some more features, so I will definitely give those a look-see. I actually have a version of Photoshop, version 7, but, I was SO lost trying to figure out how to use it, I just gave up.
Well, I was going to send you a message, so I didn't clutter up your page, but it won't let me. Thank you SO much for your comments. Yes, I've noticed I have a tendency to focus on my subject and forget my background when I'm shooting candid shots (and the one with him playing in the pot of peeled potatoes was so much luck... I was just randomly snapping while he played and ate the raw potatoes, lol). I don't have photoshop to edit stuff out of the background. The only editing software I use is Picasa, which I d/l for free offline.
I have found I love taking shots of kids, even though they're hard as the devil to catch still, or even looking at you. I've posted on my Facebook account that I'm taking free pictures, if any of my friends want to take advantage. I hope that will get me some more practice, lol. Any other suggestions on how to get more practice? My family gets sick of a camera in their face all the time.
And yes, your entire family does fantastic work. You are definitely surrounded by your own tribe of artistic souls. And I hope your son realizes how lucky he is that he has a father who could and WOULD pass on such a remarkable talent!!! Thanks again for your insight!!! ~Amanda
Oh, WOW...!!! Your pictures are SO great! I don't know if I'll EVER be half as good as you are, but if I were, I'd be pretty happy! I know you're probably really busy, and everyone probably asks, but, I love taking pictures of people, and you're so good at it, if you get time, could you pop by and look at my photos and tell me what you think? It's okay to be honest... I can't learn if all I'm ever told is good stuff. I love your work, and thanks, whether you get a chance to look at my pictures or not :)
This group is about inanimate subjects, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, plants and natural substances like rocks) or man-made (drinking glasses, cigarettes, pipes, hotdogs and so on).
