The Shooter

"lol, he does a great job with it Terry. I know what you mean though. Even though I shoot Olympus now I still get that "I WANT IT" feeling every time I see a clay colored Canon lens."

"It was the details... I swear. Her top is a distracting print of reds and pinks... I noticed that the detail was to eliminate the color and concentrate on the curves ... I mean on the necklace! ;-)"

"Thank you... THIS is one of the images that shows why I really love my wide lens. The ability to get this depth while really getting a close focus point in the foreground and to grab an entire scene and skew the lines, even in the clouds."

Profile Information

Gender:
Male
Hometown:

About Me:
I work for a large company out of California called Signtronix. We specialize in business signage for the small business owner. I am able to use my photography and artistic skills when I do a product shoot for a client to be featured on thier business sign and as I design the layout of the signage.

My past includes 12 years as a professional photographer including shooting for a professional soccer team, teaching a series of classes at the local college, and of course the range of people including weddings, familys, children and models and being published in numerous magazines and books. I shoot mostly for fun now and like to experiment with digital manipulation. I like to think that I create photos, rather than simply capture an image. Im not here to judge or be judged but will openly accept cunstructive criticism. Having been a photo instructor I realized many years ago that we all have a different view on reality and on what "art" is to us. I truly believe to each his or her own beliefs and pleasure, it is up to no one to force an opinion on another.
My Equipment
I have left the world of a professional photograher and along with that have parted with my medium format Pentax, my twin reflex, my studio strobes and backgrounds, my professional labs and my need to accept the job just because you walked in my door looking for a photographer. I now shoot with an Olympus E30. I shoot for myself and my own enjoyment. Some of what I do with my skills is to shoot for my kids school activities such as swimming, water polo and soccer. You may see some of those images creep into my portfolio once in a while. Recently I have started taking the requests for shoots more serious and seem to slowly be getting back into the world of photography as a profession. I guess its like an addiction, once we start its hard to give it up.

Please bear in mind as you browse my work that all images are protected by international copyright law and I thank you in advance for your respect for my, and everyone elses artwork.

Brad - Just to let you know that I was joking about talking to those bees.  It is more like I have to talk myself through what I am doing, what with all of those barbs pointed at me.  Looking through your photos and I believe you can teach me quite a bit.  Will you mind if I ask questions on certain photos of yours?  Take care - EJ

Hi Brad, I want to thank you for the input on my forest photo question. You put in a lot of work on it and it was very helpful. I understand much better now and you did a remarkable job with a small jpeg in your final edit... Thanks again!

Brad- Thank you for your comments, I really appreciate what you said. I don't have a connection to bee's like you do, but they never bother me.  We have about 8 blue berry plants that are covered with bee's in the Spring.  I walk around taking photos and have never been stung - or harassed by them.  Of course, I move slowly and deliberately so I guess they don't perceive me as a threat. It might sound funny, but what ever animal or insect I am photographing I talk to in a low voice, which seems to calm them down - or me depending on what it is.  Lately, I have been wondering if I am progressing with my understanding and use of photography.  Your comments have answered that perplexing question for me.  Thank you, my friend.  Take care!  EJ

Brad-Thanks for commenting on the spider shot.  I find spiders fascinating - but that's it.  Like I told Ren'ee, one too many run in's with them.  I glanced through your photos and found them fantastic!  I am going to have to study them to see how you do it!  Keep up the good work, Brad and take care!  EJ
