October 2011 - The East Sussex coast at St. Leonards looking towards Bexhill. The term 'Groynes' refers to the concrete and timber walls built down the beach and into the sea that prevent the waves, which hit the coast obliquely, from washing away the beach.

Comment by Fumi on January 13, 2013 at 11:06am Hi Mark,
I like its soft and wide scenery. The sea is not only peaceful but also tells a lot. It is amazing! And the cloud is dramatic. I always cant help seeing the changing cloud!
Comment by Mark Duncan on January 12, 2013 at 7:15pm Many thanks Ralph, Michael and Anita. This one came alive when I tonemapped it.
Well spotted Ralph. I recall that it was actually a swimmer (yes, in the Channel, in October!). Less than a week later, a water spout formed over the sea a few hundred yards from this very spot. It would have made a fantastic shot.
You may also be interested to know that the small headland in the middle of the shot is Galley Hill in Bexhill. This is the site of the WWII observation post at which, in 1940, one Gunner Spike Milligan attempted to bring down a low-flying Luftwaffe Dornier bomber with a brick. It was dark and he missed.

Comment by Cornishman on January 12, 2013 at 11:18am What an amazing panoramic shot, Mark. Excellent job and tell me, is that a shark on the far left out to sea?
We used to watch them bring in sharks when I lived in Cornwall. many, many years ago.
