A sign to honor general F.A. Hoefer. In the castle Doorwerth was on 14 April 1930 for his 80st  birthday 'by his numerous admirers and the staff' history researcher and antiquary 'F.A. Hoefer commemorated with a ceremony and placing a stone in the wall. This General with an eye for history, in 1910 bought the then derelict castle and brought it under the Association The Doorwerth. Hoefer set in motion the renovation, which was completed in 1915.

So much history in this image Anita. Five years to renovate a castle and me and my husband have been in our dream house for five years now and still no way near done. :)

I got so wrapped up in the story I forgot to tell you that this is a great take on the theme..you don't think about brick with signs and love the colors and texture. Great thinking and nice find. :)

great shot Tammy.....  but this was taken last August 7, 2012...this is a "new shot only" group. Blame my mouse...lol.
