I took this shot last summer in 2012. I am using Nikon D3200. I wanted to know how could I have made this shot more interesting and also what features does it lack to look like a beautiful capture?

Hi Vasim,

Maybe you could try to make it a mono and edit the colors on the boats back to original. The emphasis won't be on the tree branches then, I think...

My honest thoughts are that you should have less trees in your foreground. I would focus on one of the boats, namely the one on the left... I would have cropped in more, thus simplying this photo... I think that the branches to the right obscure to much of the boat on the right side... so I would leave that and just focus on the boat on the left... you have to much tree leaves above, so the branches kind prevent my eyes from locking on to the subject, namely the boats.. however, please don't think I am being severely critical... I love the fact that you are using "natural framing" by using these leaves and branches.  Also, I would have used a flash to lighten the branches, while adjusting my aperture to spot focus on the boat.  Wow, you have a Nikon D3200. That is great.  Anyway, I enjoyed this photo... thanks for sharing it. Ned

It's a nice shot. Maybe if you could have moved to the side a little bit instead of strait on. Really it's a good shot though. Looks inviting.

I would make little less emphasis on leaves and also use flash to brighten leaves. Right now for my taste, they are little too dark and blocking interesting view points of lake and boats ahead, which is too tempting for me.

thanks for sharing.

thank you Anita, Ned, Sarah and Sourabh for your valuable suggestions and for being honest in your critique of this photo..

this kind of looks like the auto focus focussed possibly on the trees leaving the boats out of focus..i like the idea of framing the boat through the trees, but the subject needs to be as sharp as possible.
