don't take them off the body until the temperatures are normalized, and no, not really... heh, just have a microfiber cloth on you and rub the lenses and viewfinders until the temperatures normalize.

Jim, there is a place in Liverpool, newton & Ellis company they are recommended and repair cameras and lens, check out their website. Type camera repairs Liverpool into Google.

Welcome Jim, as for lens repair. I would try to find a authorized dealer to do the repair work. Best way to find one is online search by brand. Hopefully there is one in the UK. You might have to ship it somewhere, that can take 6 to 8 weeks sometimes. I'm lucky that way, there is one about 5 minutes from my house.  The noise you speak of is only in auto and not  in manual?  My first thought was maybe dirt in the barrel, but if you don't hear the noise in manual focus then it's not dirt but in the electronics. A dealer can fix it without warranty, and I'm not sure the fee for doing so, so ask first. I hope this helps, and thank you for you condolences.

anyone recommend a lens repairer ? i have a sigma 75-300 macro lens off my sony a-380 which makes the most god awful noise on a/f, wont actually a/f but works great still on manual. sigma need all kinds of warranty paperwork, customs etc etc which i cant as yet provide, any help would be greatly and graciously recieved, i`m in essex uk
