This is how a Daily Challenge Works: .
Go to "Discussion Forum" to see what the challenge/topic is for the next 48hrs.
Click on the most current Challenge... ( make sure you are on the right date) and enter your 1 entry .(please do not post pictures on the comment wall.)
Uploading your entry:
You will see the "reply" box. Write in the box the title of your entry, or your comment...then on the top of the reply box you will see the small icon that looks like a small image, click on that and it allows you to upload a photo. DO NOT USE THE "UPLOAD FILES" on the bottom of the reply box. Your photo will not show up properly on the page.
Winners:
When you are chosen as the winner of a challenge then it is your job to pick the next challenge/topic for the next 48hrs. If you win, you have 24hrs to start a new topic, if you dont, then the second place winner will be asked to start the new challenge...
INSTRUCTIONS FOR STARTING A NEW CHALLENGE
1. Go to the "Discussion Forum" area below, on the bottom left you will see... +start discussion. Click on + start discussion.
It will ask you for your new title.
PUT THE DATE OF THE NEW TOPIC IN YOUR CHALLENGE TITLE....
Example:
December 18-19th Challenge- Winter photos
2. In the "post" box, write a short description on what you would like to see.
Example:
In this challenge I want to see what is your favorite part of winter. It can be Christmas photos, snow photos, or what you enjoy in winter where you live. The challenge will end December 19th at 5pm EST.
3. Put an example photo or photos by looking on the top of the "post" box. You will see a small photo (it is the 13th icon on the right side) when you scroll over it, it will say "insert image" THAT is where you upload your examples.
DO NOT USE THE "ATTACH FILES" on the bottom of the page... your photos will not show up on the page.
4. When the challenge is over and you've picked the top 3 winners, create a new discussion again (+Add a discussion) and post the winning photographs and your comments there. To post an image in a new discusson you have to right click on the image, copy it's URL, then use the image button in your newly created discussion (like you did when you submitted your entry or posted the examples) and paste the URL in there.

You may enter ONE photo to be judged for each new challenge.
You must follow the topic and what they are looking for, so make sure you read the winners challenge for the next day and follow their rules.Unless you have an NE you also would like to share :) (pictures can be old or new as long as they are about the topic)
You may enter a Non Entry, we call NE, meaning if you cant judge the next challenge (because your too busy, working too much, or will be away...ect) you can still enter for fun without being judged. A NE cannot win.
If you enter a challenge ..YOU MUST CHECK BACK TO SEE THE WINNERS!!!! (in case you ARE the winner) and the NEW DC TO START WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE LAST ONE.
CHECK the time zone of that days DC and if you need a little longer let us know in your description part of your entry, it's not a big deal.
IF the WINNER DOES NOT ENTER A NEW DC the following day ..( within 24hrs of the win ) then the Challenge we will go to the 2nd place, or 3rd down the list to get it going again.
Hope this is helpful.....Now Lets Have Some Fun and...
(Its way easier than it sounds :)

I was just going to add aside from busy schedules that members are world wide, the challenge is set at 48 hours to encompass everyone, since currently it is around 4 in Amsterdam it is 8 in the morning where I am at and in Australia it is now 1 am on Wednesday. I've tried to participate in some challenges where the cut off hadn't even been reached where I was but the challenge closed because the where the host lived it was time. :S

Comment by Tracy on August 28, 2012 at 12:23pm It does sometimes go over 48hrs and that is ok. This is a relaxed group and sometimes life gets in the way when people are hosting or responding to challenges. So enjoy .... no pressure , and welcome to the group :)
Comment by Anita Berghoef on August 28, 2012 at 6:40am Hi all,
Being rather new on DC, I want to cautiously share my thoughs:
I thought DC was suppoost to be an 48 hr. challenge.
In practice the challenges often take many more hours than 48.
What do the other participants think about this?

Comment by Angel E Prieto on August 20, 2012 at 4:49am Hi people! I just wanted to stop by and say "HOLA" :) and happy international day of the photography! I miss you all very much im still in Venezuela and thinking of extending my trip over here because i have founded inspiration and the source of it... my muse! With Love From the tropic! ^.^
Comment by Tracy on August 15, 2012 at 8:34am We do encourage that you should post the winning photos but its not mandatory due to (like Deb said ) people being limited at times :) Most do and we are grateful when they can!
Comment by Anita Berghoef on August 9, 2012 at 2:14am OK. Thanks Deborah!
I think you will see sometimes Anita that many people are on mobile devices when it is time to judge and it's not always possible to post the photos.
