Ok This is actually a little liberal version of Selective Colour. While selective colour will restrict you to keep one colour and b/w the rest (my example - 3) , this challenge allows you to include all colours but show photos that have both  - colour and monochrome areas  (my examples -1 and 2). Of course you can just use your selective colours photos as well but  I am very much intrested what you creative people can get into this theme.

As usual one entry. NE spamming encouraged. Archive shots obviously allowed. Challenge ends 14th Nov around 12 pm GMT.

Examples -

'The world half painted'

'Lets add some colour to our lives'

'Driving through the tower...'

Have fun guys !!

Nice topic, Sandy.

I'd say I view the majority of photos on here and on Facebook, and I'm not a huge fan of selected colour.

For instance, from wedding photos on facebook, SC seems to be overdone and almost tacky.

BUT...

Looking at the photos below, it seems it can add to the photo if done effectively.

I tend to agree with you - Some photos just don't work well with it and I see a lot of it where it is overdone.  I usually will try it sloppy, meaning I don't take the time to do it well just to get an idea if it will look good or not.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking it can be overdone.

In regards to say the wedding photos that I've seen, there's been some 'professional' photos that are very amateur - so perhaps it's just the poor executions that leave a sour taste.

Quite a good point there Kamran. I think your views may be applicable to many things- "overdoing of anything is going to give any thing satisfactory".

I must agree that  the selective colour edit works beautifully in photos that would compliment this technique. The most recent examples would be Deborah's street artist (whom I wouldnt have noticd if she hadnt used SC) and Patircks NatGeo (all of which would be brght and yellow if it wasnt mellowed down and eye cathcing.

I am actually loving the topic as I am amazed  by creativity that the group is now getting into photography. It gives me inspiration and the urge to try and learn new things !!

My Entry: (note to self: i really should start naming photos)

thats fine work there, i was looking for a vehicle in my archive coz this is realy effective

Love the red bug, really works well with B&W

Nice entry, very effective!

great take on the theme Kamran !! nicely done !!

Entry: My Youngest Daughter - Alithea & the Baloon.. (my first ever SC) so its a bit crudely cut

Good work for a first time!
