I'm having issues with A3. I love the interface and the new functions but I cannot tolerate the speed (or lack of speed ) of this software. I'm using a Macbook Pro 2.53 GHz with 4GB of ram. Still very slooow. I'm not sure if upgrading to 8GB will solve the problem or not. What system are most of you using, and are you having the same beach ball issues that I am?
My options are: 1) spend $500 to upgrade to 8GB of ram, if that will help or
2) switch to Lightroom 2 and eventually LR 3.
Any thoughts?

Please don't let me put you off, when I produce books they're for clients and have to be spot on and look like being worth the money I have to charge. Sadly they're not up the standard. If exclusive, high end quality isn't what you need I would think they're a good product although a little pricey.

As soon as I here they've upgraded, and print quality, colour rendition etc is 'very good' then I'll use them again as life couldn't be simpler when your a Mac user and keeping everything in the Mac family.

I have a friend that raises puppies for the blind, and he put a book together of pictures for his first dog that he raised, it came out wonderfully. Sorry to see yours did not, I have been thinking of doing the same as some point, and this makes me think twice...

Aperture being a piece of software designed for Pro's is a fabulous piece of software. I've been using it now for some 18 months having been introduced to it after I'd gone from PC to Mac (joined the enlightened.) As with any software which covers so much ground it takes a bit of getting you head round and I had my fair share of losing stuff, deleting folders and learning how to use its filing system correctly, I think, in fact I thought the filing system was the hardest bit to get to grips with and I'm still not sure I got it right. However beyond that I'm finding it an incredibly versatile piece of software.

I find what let's it down big time is Apple's Printing dept. I've ordered two books from them and I'm not happy at all with either of them, I thinks it's a bit pointless having first rate computers, first rate software and books and prints that simply aren't good enough.

Hi Sheri, If you like to learn how to use Aperture, start with a good book. Aperture 2 Professionally Manage Digital Photographs by Ben Long, Richard Harrinton, Orlando Luna. ISDN 0-321-53993-1. It is full with examples, a DVD with lessons, ... try it and you'll love Aperture

Hi Sheri - one of the benefits of Aperture is that it doesn't actually change your master image. Any enhancements or changes you make are never directly applied to your original. You can also right click and duplicate if you want to have side by side comparisons as you make changes to the copy. You also have the option to right click and Remove Adjustments - that will get you back to where you started.

Hi All, I am new to aperture.I have been using iphoto and like its ability to organize events and folders ,but it's lacking as an editing tool. My question is this, if I shoot in raw and import my photos to iphoto and then edit them in aperture as a referenced file (from iphoto) will a raw file be recognized by aperture or only a compressed jpeg file since that is how iphoto imports raw files? I hope that I've made my point clear. Thanks
