Meredith; Any point along the drive toi portage is a good spot to stop and look at. Near Beluga Point, look up on the hillside for sheep. Alyeska will be particularly spectacular then as will Portage. When you turn of the hyway to portage, watch the right side of the road where there a number of hanging glaciers that'll be showing their color. We will be having spectacular sunsets and sunrise so be watchful for them. During you stay in Anchorage, watch north for McKinley to stick out. If it does, drive the short distance to Arctic Valley for a high vantage point of the Anchorage valley with the Alaskan Range in the background. Hope for clear weather during that short stay. Lens in hand, I am heading to Alaska mid-May for the first time in 13 years. I will be in Dillingham for a couple of days and then Anchorage with a day trip to Portage Glacier. Any suggests for great photo spots??
