For you who I have not had the pleasure to meet yet Hello I am pretty new to the site and have noticed since I have been posting here some of my images have been stolen and appeared on a russian website
I know these images have been lifted from MSS as although I have posted these images elsewhere I always do slightly different edits for each site usually based on previous comments I am very aware that this goes on and it has happened many times before to me A prime example being my Burj Dubai shot that was stolen by a website and has had 518000 viewings
But it still pisses me off especially when they are offering a download service of shots they have no right to and add there own site logo ! Might be worth you checking if your pictures have been taken in the past by putting your name in there search box (THE BLUE ONE AT THE TOP )and see if any of your pictures come up as I am sure Im not the first photographer to have his work stolen and put here . While the internet is still so lawless and copyright laws are so often broken all I can sugest is only upload low res small images and although I feel it spoils the image think hard about watermarking Cheers fellow snappers Stay lucky and remember post small!
David
If we were to watermark our photos would it be still ok to post them on mss? Sorry to hear about your photos being stolen David. Im a beginner but have still thought about watermarking just in case.
David, the Russian site doesn't have any search forms. And the second cited site is not Russian. But anyway, the fact is atrocious. When I first came to samara-photo.ru there was a discussion in their forum too about stealing the pics. They came to conclusion that although it is not good, the mere fact of somebody putting pics online automatically exposes them. They also said that the way to avoid seeing your shots elsewhere without your permission is to make them small and watermark well. But then all the beauty and idea of public display gets lost. Sad...
