I am having photo editing problems. My old reliable soft ware is not resizing images so that I can post them. It used to work fine, but not now :( Still in MB's and not KB's, I would have to make them as small as a postage stamp to post. It could be my computer or the program. Any ideas? Help would be very much appreciated. Resized width to 900.

Permalink Reply by Christian Hamelius on January 28, 2013 at 3:42am I don't actually use that program, but when you resize (and/or export) a picture to JPG for use on screen, make sure you save the file at 72dpi (which is a default for on screen display). Maybe that caused the file to be huge in MB.
Permalink Reply by Joe Bradley on January 28, 2013 at 9:55pm Thanks Christian. The program I have been using does that automatic. Or well it did till a couple of days ago. Now it is not adjusting pix to size. I guess I need to upgrade to Corel pro X7.
Permalink Reply by Joe Bradley on January 28, 2013 at 9:44pm Wayne, I tried that a couple of times. Ran a cleaning disk through to see if that was the problem, no change. Maybe I need a new program. Thank for the tip.
Permalink Reply by Cornishman on January 28, 2013 at 8:21am Joe, I very rarely use the re-size function in editing programs, I always use a standalone re-sizer, "Rixresizer"
http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm. I find that you have more control over most things.
But of course it's up to you, try it and see what you think.

Permalink Reply by Joe Bradley on January 28, 2013 at 9:47pm Hi Ralph, I might give it a try, but how does it work? Do you have to copy images to it first? Resizing is tricky,so the images do not come out pixsolated.
Permalink Reply by Cornishman on January 29, 2013 at 2:34am Joe, all the images I post on MSS, and elsewhere, are re-sized with this program and I don't think you would say they are pixilated, even at 100%. You can batch resize the images also. Plus you can set your own DPI or use the default of 96 (which most of mine are). You can review your images, re-size in Grayscale, maintain aspect ratio, heck it does everything and it's FREE! Even if it was not free I would buy it. I have used it for many, many years and wouldn't be without it. You just open the program and load your image, either a single image or a folder full! Really simple to use and FREE.
