hey everyone i have a nikon  coolpix p510 and i am wanting to buy lenses for it and fllters to but have no idea what correct size i need for it i have tryed a 52mm and it seems to big to screw on to the lense. so should i try a 50mm? any help with this would be greatly appreciated i am new to photography and trying to learn the basics of lenses and exactly what they are used for. please can someone give me some info or insights please?

thank you mark so much you have helped me so much. may i ask another question like the circular polarized lense what size would i need i have tryed the 52mm and it was just a little too big but not by much. so could i buy like the 50mm for the filters? again thank you so much for your help
