I found out that you can convert you origional JPEF files to a TIFF i found how to do it with the soft ware i have.

What are the benefits?.

If you need TIFF it would be more beneficial to start shooting in RAW and convert to TIFF.

I am shooting in RAW now i just had some photos that i shot in JPEG when i first got the camera.

The photos i shot in JPEG if i converted them to TIFF would it help preserve them in the quality they are in now.?

Not necessarily. In conversion you always lose something.
If you don't ever edit the originals, only copies that would preserve the originals.
