Is there a way to prevent people from uploading +300 random photos?

If you feel that your photos are good, amazing, well composed, interesting or even art, then by all means upload them! This is of course a matter of personal opinion. But I must say that I find it increasingly frustrating that some members on this site, seem to just upload every single frame they've got. It effectively means that I won't comment or criticise their work. But more importantly, it will often prevent me from viewing photos from members who only post a few at a time - they're simply lost in the mix.
So my question is (and I know we've had this discussion before but this time I hope we can reach a conclusive answer) if there is a way to prevent people from uploading an enormous amount of photos to this site?
Fx by restricting it to 5 uploads per day or perhaps new members are only allowed to upload a fixed amount within the first month of membership?

Here is another abuse of the site - this person has over 1,100 images uploaded - Dave Dyet. When you go to his earliest pages at least from 40 to 65 its all minerals and rocks with descriptions. Now these are clearly not for us to admire and respond to. Its free image hosting for some other purpose.

May I remind everyone that "Unlimited storage of your photos" is part of the site description.

Now if members wish to change this, go to the bottom of any page and offer "Feedback". Management might take a closer look if they get tons of e-mails.

Damn. I was just getting ready to upload 500 shots from a farming festival :) Just joking. I think MSS should follow photo.net example. One photo per day. No more no less.
This is like the story with the digital camera. The fact we are not using a film, hence no cost for developing, it gives us the freedom to shoot till we drop without actually stopping and thinking about what we are shooting. I say one photo per day maybe max. five should be allowed for upload.

I suppose we can say that there will be probably nor limitation of uploading because Ning need financial income, and they get it from having laws of people coming around and seing the ads.
I think Francois' s idea to run a new site is very interesting, but would that be possible without massive membership? maybe yes, there is Kammie Kamera here created her own site on Ning.
It seems some members, like myself, would be ready to play an admittance fee if that was necessary.

i am very pleased to see how things are actually moving along quite well

manouel, in the same line of thoughts, i have been researching the possibility of creating a COOP, legal entity for photographers, in the last while.

the idea behind this is to pool some resources from enough to bring about new possibilities for members that most could not dream of as individuals. benefits will increased affordability or availability of such things as software/material , copyright enforcement protection, exposure, learning opportunities etc. individuals (members), while committing some form of contributions to the pool that will grant them the power of the group, would of course retain benefits proportional to the "commercial value" of their own creation. sometime soon (i would like to develop a bit more understanding on the ramifications of such an endeavor in the meantime) i wish to start a group on this.

Ning has little control of MSS. Photo Journal is using the Premium service from Ning. Photo Journal has asked for for the site CODE to control everything, even Ning updates. MSS is supported by all the photography equipment adds for products featured in Photo Journal. It costs them $50 to $90 a month for this Ning service.
Anyone can start a site for any subject for free on Ning. My first site was # 37,000 a year ago. There are over 200,000 sites now, growing by 1000 per day. I love this network. A site creator has so much freedom to do whatever he/she wants. New features are offered all the time. The Bulk uploader was introduced 6 months ago.
My photo site has a 6 image per day limit and I just found the patch that hides the Bulk photo uploader. Added the patch an hour ago.
Anyone wishing info about Ning is welcome to PM me. I don't know if it's proper to discuss this in a forum. MSS is providing a service at their expense, for free. We should respect that.
PS, there is another 'paid for' photo site like this on Ning. Their members have the same complaints.

HURRAY!!
I don't know if that's been overoptimistic, but I'd say the end of the bulk uploader might be a milestone here. The means that the ones that want to do massive uploading will have an to do it slowlier, hence they will have a think about making a choice, even if it is only for a few seconds !
As regards the creation of another site more focused on critique, it seems that the most prone and liable persons to do it here or Andy P and Francois Cléroux. I like the idea, but I must say that I have myself not the ghost of an idea of how it is to design and run a website...
whether this happens or not, I encourage people that are set up with viewing massif amounts of poor quality photographs to join the ' constructive criticism group'
I think it is interesting to have some kind of two-level range of comments, from" nice photo/great shot' , which, given the it does not teach anything, is anyway pleasant, and more accurate critique on the CC group.
Nonetheless,, constructive criticism is really meaningful if it is detailed, so if you want to go for a constructive critique, please take the time to do it !
